Better Never Stops - Team Work
As an entrepreneur, one of your strong traits is you’re a perfectionist.

You want everything done to your high standards. You believe by the time you’ve explained to someone how to do it and trust them to get on with it, you might as well do it yourself. And you’ll have to do it again anyway.

GET YOUR FREE BUSINESS SECCESS™ PLAN

You might think this is an over exaggeration. Humour me and write a quick list of the things you do in your business each week. Focus in on the ones you believe only you can do.

Honestly, why are you the only person who can do them?

You’re a successful entrepreneur running a million pound plus business. What is an hour of your time worth? So why are you doing £10/hour admin tasks?

When I work with clients, I take them through the orchestra and conductor model. Think of your business as an orchestra.

Many sections and instruments playing a key role in getting a music score delivered as close to perfect as possible for their expectant audience.

Your business brings many elements together to deliver something your customer is expecting.

Now look at the role of a conductor, they unify the performers, set the tempo and listen critically to control the interpretation and pacing of the music.

Have you ever seen a conductor get down from their stand to take over an instrument? What would go wrong if they did?

Hopefully you can see how this is your role in your business, you are the conductor. By stepping out of the day-to-day you’ll see improvements and opportunities so much clearer.

Action...

Keep A Diary

Over the course of the next week keep a diary or list beside you each day and write down all the tasks you do and how long they take you.

Evaluate

At the end of the week (and not before) evaluate your list, which ones on there

Bring your team together

Bring your team together to discuss your list and ask how they could do some of these tasks. Explain the upside of you having more time to grow and develop the business.

Empower your team

Empower your team through training and encouragement. Let them take responsibility for their actions. This will be hard for you, but I promise you it will be so rewarding and enlightening.

Reward

Implement a simple reward programme for the business hitting a result. This can be as simple as ‘fish & chip Friday’, something I’ve implemented across many of my clients.

So, what do you do now?

If you’ve read this far, you’re clearly not happy with your business. As I see it you now have 3 choices:

.

]

Choice 1

Do nothing! And surprisingly many won’t do anything different. They’ll carry on seeking for the magic wand! Or better still bury their head in sand in a vain hope something will happen.

One of my clients and now good friends, Adrian, has a great saying (he’s from Yorkshire, so it’s even better in his accent!):

“Only s**t happens, everything else you have to make happen yourself!”

Choice 2

Take action by implementing some or all the actions above.

Great stuff and good luck, you’ll be well on your way to very quickly having a much easier business to manage, you’ll feel rejuvenated and start to really enjoy your business again.
